As is often known but seldom practiced creating happiness has much more to do with you and your perception over external factors.  As with most things in life, you get out your work experience and career what you put into it.  The “science of happiness at work” is not soft-new-age-touchy-feely nonsense.  The importance of contribution, conviction, culture, commitment and confidence is well articulated by Jessica Pryce-Jones in The Five Drivers of Happiness at Work.
