Aerospace Business Development Manager

Overview:

Role

The Business Development Manager will report to the Vice President and will be responsible for driving all aerospace new business development and sales activity.  They will work within a matrix environment that includes, engineering, product development, research and development and operations.  This role will be in a hands-on sales role actively seeking and uncovering possible new applications, components and product opportunities in the aerospace industry.  This person will have a hand in developing prospects, cultivating existing clients, developing technical case studies, RFP/RFI estimates, quotes for proposals, market strategy, forecasting and execution of the plan.  As the organization grows the Business Development role will have opportunity to hire a team of individuals as the growth dictates. Travel is estimated at 25-50%.

Requirements:

In order to qualify for this role, you must have a 4-Year Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field; a technical degree would be preferred in an Engineering discipline, but is not required.  You need to have a solid and active network within both commercial and defense aerospace organizations; ideally, a mix of Tier 1 and OEM companies.   At least 5 years of successful, and demonstrated sales and business development in the aerospace market is required and experience in creating proposals, building a sales pipeline attending industry trade shows, etc..  In addition, you must demonstrate a strong business sense of pursing high value prospects and applications by being able to discern and understand those applications that will turn profit and help increase EBITA. 

Location:

This role will be located in the growing technical center of North Carolina.  The Greater Metro-Charlotte, NC market; one of the fastest growing cities and economies in the Southeast US.  Charlotte is currently ranked #14 in US News and World Report Annual “Best Places to Live”.   US News and World Report described Charlotte as “equal parts of old-fashioned Southern charm and the high-energy cosmopolitan bustle”.  With close proximity to the Smokey Mountains and Atlantic Ocean beaches, this area offers excellent weather [sunshine 215 days a year!] and great blend of small-town living and big-city culture.  The area offers a great place to raise a family due to its low crime rate, low cost of living and excellent schools.
