Business Development and Sales Manager – Composites
CEO Inc’s Advanced Composite Group is conducting an active search for a Business Development/Sales Manager in the Composite Industry. The company is a privately-owned and well-capitalized up and coming player in the production of composite panels and sheet goods using polymer based matrices and reinforced with aramid, fiberglass or carbon. The company has over 50 years of providing world-class products and manufacturing services to a variety of industries and is looking to expand aggressively into the composite market. The company is performance-based, offering a lot of autonomy and entrepreneurism to the Sales Manager. They will rely on the Business Development function exclusively to find, qualify and deliver contracts that are profitable. They are offering a competitive base salary, along with a variable plan that will be driven by individual performance.
The Business Development and Sales Manager will be responsible for all business development, account relationships and contract management within the preferred industries. The New Business Development function or “hunting” will comprise of about 70-75% of the time. This will include grassroots lead generation efforts, industry research, trade show attendance, qualification of leads and closing deals. The rest of the time will be focused on account relationship maintenance, contract development and sourcing new applications for the services. The Sales Manager will be an individual contributor responsible to the President of the organization and working directly with the Operations team to evaluate products, services, capabilities and capacity.
To qualify for this role, a 4-Year Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field is preferred but not required.
You must also have at least 5 years of hands-on sales experience in selling composite products or services to markets that use composite panels in their manufacturing process; this could include one or more of the following: marine, architectural, transportation, trucks, trailers, construction, military, industrial, et al.
The personality type that will be most successful is a self-sufficient, professional business development manager that is great at building strong relationships and has a demonstrated track record of both strategic and tactical execution of a sales plan in the industries noted above.
This position is nationally focused and will be built around industry/product type, not geography. Travel is estimated at 50-60% depending on the season and pipeline.
The company is in Southern California, however, since the territory is national, this person may be located and work from any US location. The travel will be estimated at 50-60% for trades shows, potential customer visits, home-office visits and other assorted travel within the domestic US. For the most part, this person will be able to set their schedule and have flexibility on the days/times [exception of trade shows, of course]; in the end, this is a results-based position that will be measured and rewarded by closing deals.
