This role will be focused on process and manufacturing support of molding operations. The Process Engineer will document statements of work for new and existing processes within the closed molding process, support all continuous improvement efforts and trouble-shoot problems on the manufacturing floor related to closed molding. This role will report to and support the Engineering Manager as they implement changes within the process, upgrade capital equipment, develop new molds and tools, evaluate mold and resin flow issues and fix issues on the floor.
The role will be highly instrumental in both current products and growing the facilities capabilities in production, tooling and assembly. This role will occasionally interact with the end OEM client, quality, floor operations and work within other teams to improve functions on the floor.
To be considered for this role, you must have a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline that may include Mechanical, Materials Science, Polymer or related degree. You must have at least 2 years of hands-on experience supporting the process engineering functions within a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive or transportation industry. The experience needs to be in an environment with raw material conversion, fabrication and assembly of components using thermoplastics, thermoset-resin composites, closed molding or similar material environment.
This role should have familiarity with tooling, molds, mold flow and related concerns as it relates to manufacturing quality Class A finish parts. The Process Engineer will work on a team and you must be able to easily work within a team environment. This role needs to have excellent technical writing skills and experience within a TS16949 environment would be an advantage.
The role is located in the Spartanburg, South Carolina area. The Greenville/ Spartanburg area of “upstate” South Carolina is one of the fastest growing areas in the Southeast US.
