PACKAGING MANAGER: This position provides support and project management for large capital projects and cost reduction initiatives.  Individuals will be required to manage multiple plastic bottle projects of varying size and scope from concept to production. Analyze and recommend design, material, and/or process improvements to solve packaging related issues.

Your responsibilities

  • Leading technical projects and coordinating activities during the development phase through approval of customer
  • Projects are to be delivered to production with expected quality, within project timing and budget
  • Providing leadership on development projects, coordinating activities from design, to pilot tool, to production mold and into production; being responsible for mold, machine and packaging components
  • Developing timelines, organizing samplings and setting priorities
  • Coordinating design activities between customer and internal design
  • Effectively communicating internally and externally with customers, suppliers and vendors to determine project requirements; coordinating project activities; providing direction
  • Documenting key project information; using appropriate forms and following procedures established for project execution
  • Being responsible for maintaining costs on projects
  • Being responsible for analyzing and interpreting data and information to draw conclusions and recommended next steps; identifying and resolving technical issues and risks to achieve project goals

Your competencies and qualifications:

  • Min 2-year Degree (Associates) in related field or equivalent, 4-year Degree (Bachelor) preferred
  • Technical Engineering background
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a management position in production, preferably within plastics industry
  • Project Management Experience
  • Technical knowledge of HDPE, PP and PET resins
  • Understanding of mold construction
  • Capable of applying and assessing SPC/statistics
  • Understanding of key features on bottle for performance and closure seal
  • Understanding of customer filling lines, distribution and consumer use
  • Knowledge of bottle testing, capable of conducting dimensional and functional evaluations
  • Knowledge of Packaging systems – types, costs, ordering procedures
  • Troubleshooting/resolution of issues
