About the Company:

Our client firm was founded in 1967. They are a leading designer and manufacturer of original equipment roof racks and other auto body trim, supplying vehicles worldwide.

The Manager has been there 27 years. The company is growing, and they are expanding their operations across multiple facilities.


The Opportunity:

They have an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer. This position is responsible to establish standards for injection mold processing throughout the company’s global operations (new plant in China and other existing European locations).  This includes the development of injection mold piece cost estimates, participate in tooling design, build, tryout and transition to production for all injection mold requirements.  Assist with troubleshooting and cost reduction projects. This role will need to be able to communicate at the plant level and the executive level.

This person will be responsible for bridging the gap between the tooling engineers and the mold technicians.

The process requires quite a bit of trial and error, so the Client is looking for someone with a gut feel for what needs to happen.

Someone who is regimented, and follows processes from cradle to grave would be a good fit.

The Client really needs someone to fill this role ASAP. For the right candidate, the process could only be 2 interviews before an offer is made.

20-25% travel, including some international travel to Europe and China based facilities.

This position offers a competitive base salary, 10% bonus, and comprehensive benefits.



Must Have's –

At least 5 years of plastic injection molding experience. 

Must know how to run injection molding machines.

Someone with a "scientific" background who has studied the processes (i.e., RJG, Master Molder, etc.) that will be able to take their operation to the next level.


Nice To Have's –

Prefer injection molding experience from the automotive industry (not a requirement).

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required – Mechanical Engineering would be optimal

Someone that can work with mold techs and bring them up to speed.

Someone that can translate what they are doing in the US to the new facility people in China.

Someone that can relate to, train, and educate the team, and get people to be self sufficient.



This role is located in Saline, MI.
