Position Title: Recovery & Kiln/Causticizing Area Manager

Location: WI

                                                                Position Description            

 To The Recovery & Kiln/Causticizing Area Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure the Kiln/Recaust operations are optimized to achieve the Business Unit needs.   Includes the safe and efficient management of (3) Recovery Boilers w/Electrostatic Precipitators, (2) LTV Evaporators, Lime Kiln w/ (2) Slaking and Causticizing lines.  Position provides leadership for the operating crews

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Fully support the mill safety, environmental, and corporate initiatives.
  • Lead improvement initiatives  in the Recovery and Kiln/Recausticizing areas and support those in the Power Areas.
  • Ensure the Business Unit, Operations, and Supply Chain are fully coordinated
  • Convert the Business Plan to a daily operations plan.
  • Provide technical expertise in the daily operations of the business unit including assisting Operators in resolving gaps between production and the plan.
  • Identify and lead strategies to improve price and reliability of the utilities delivered to customers.

 

  • Mentor and coach operators in concert with shift team leaders in troubleshooting, documentation, and work request quality.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Power Plant Personnel Qualification Program.
  • Analyze and allocate production losses.
  • Work with, prioritize and coach production engineers with the identification and rectification of process performance gaps.
  • Work with the Operations Maintenance Coordinator to prioritize maintenance work and support maintenance execution of the work.
  • Demonstrates Commitment Model leadership
  • Possess ambulatory capabilities to move around the mill, climb ladders, and catwalks

 

 

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in pulp & paper science, chemical/mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Proven leadership with a minimum of 5 years of related paper, operational, or manufacturing/industrial experience and 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; competency with standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, and Mill information systems
  • In-depth knowledge of plant operations, maintenance spending process, production commitments, costs, capital projects, process equipment, and new technology

 

  • Strong analytical problem solving skills; a solid background in statistical analysis is a plus
  • Ability to inspire and guide others toward identifying and achieving vision and goals
  • Ability to give encouragement, guidance, and direction to improve performance
  • Ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy; ability to provide people the information to perform their assigned roles through verbal communication
  • Ability to understand how perceptions of behaviors influence interactions with others
