Technical Service Engineer: provides technical service and application development support to customers and OEM’s and to assist the sales and business development teams with technical advice as needed. Specific focus will be on application development via qualified project work (APPs) at OEM’s and large molders in the region. Main area covered will be USA, Canada and Mexico. Occasional follow up and investigation of customer material complaints as well as hosting customer technical seminars as required.

Principal Activities (critical tasks in bold):

  • Provide expert technical advice to customers and potential customers as well as OEM’s
  • Assist the sales managers and business development managers with technical advice as requested in areas such as design review, material recommendations, regulatory approvals, compliance, risk assessment, processing guidelines etc.
  • Maintain up to date customer information reporting in CISA (CRM system)
  • Support account sales and business development colleagues on projects (APPs)
  • Generate new APPs in non-BDM related industries e.g. industrial applications
  • Assist as necessary to investigate and resolve customer material related complaints including preparation of 8D corrective action reports
  • Work closely with the technical center on new material developments
  • Keep abreast of new product developments and work closely with business line personnel
  • Coordinate requests for Moldflow analysis and FEA analysis
  • Participate in global technical service meetings and conference calls as required
  • Ensure good communication up, down and across the organization
  • Participate in regional sales meetings and give technical presentations as required
  • Help with product training of new sales, customer service and business development staff

 

Other Activities:

  • Participation in industry events/trade shows/seminars/exhibitions
  • Support local SPE chapters as much as possible
  • Comply with all company guidelines e.g. business expense reporting
  • Be aware of Krahn Code of Conduct and comply with all aspects and guidelines
  • Avoid any situations which might conflict with anti-trust guidelines
  • Report any suspected fraudulent activity to Accounting and Personnel Manager

Desired Skills, Strengths and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in TSAD related work with engineering compounds
  • Good knowledge of all engineering thermoplastic compounds and processes
  • Good knowledge of processing/tooling, material, part design
  • Experience with Moldflow simulation software and interpretation
  • Participation in teams responsible for the preparation of 8D corrective action reports
  • Self-disciplined and well-motivated, smart appearance and professional approach
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written in English (German and/or Spanish desirable)
  • Computer literate and competent user of Microsoft Outlook and Office software programs
  • Use of SAP software preferred but not essential
  • Good organizational, time management and planning skills
  • Effective presentation and communication skills at all levels in an organization

Qualifications:

  • Polymer engineering degree graduate from respected technical college
  • Project management course preferred but not essential

Location: Greenville/Spartanburg, SC Area
